End of Summer Musings | September Edition

September 2026 Edition

End of Summer Musings

I feel like August was simultaneously too short but also a really long month. I made really good progress with my projects despite work commitments and a family trip but I do wish there was more time so that I would be further along with some things. But I recognize life gets in the way sometimes and I have to give myself grace when that happens and just keep it moving.

My biggest project update is that my coloring book is officially done! I got my printer proof copy this past week and I'm so happy with the print quality of it. But most of all I'm so proud of myself for getting it done and making such a cool project. I was apprehensive that it might be too daunting of a project to get done but this was my level of medium-hard and finishing definitely felt like leveling up. The full print order is being manufactured now and should be delivered sometime this week and then you guys will be the first to know when its up in my online shop!

September will be another month full of creating which will culminate in Art on the Green at the end of the month on September 26th. I will be at booth H12 with my new coloring book, some really cool original art pieces, and all my prints, stickers, and bookmarks. I'm excited that I get to participate in such a big fair and I'm looking forward to sharing my art with even more people.

My solo exhibition at Parastudy is also fast approaching and will be October 20th-23rd with the opening reception on October 20th from 6-9pm. The exhibit will then be open 6pm-9pm October 21st-23rd for visitors to come and go as they please. As I've been working on the pieces for this show, I've also been thinking about how I will discuss my art process and my motivations and I've found its become so much easier for me to think about what I want to say. I used to just wish that my art could do all the speaking for me but I feel like now more than ever its important to share the human side behind the art.

Thanks for joining me this month! Looking forward to sharing more of my process and recapping how the fair went with you guys next month :)

August Highlights

You guys get a sneak preview for a spread from the coloring book. This one is all about the well known Blue Crab. I really love the way the face came out on this one, he just looks like a cute lil guy :)

Here is one of the pieces in progress for my solo exhibit. This is a Mandarinfish painted in gouache on black watercolor paper. The darkness of the paper makes the paint look so vibrant it really does justice to how colorful this fish is in real life.

October 2026 Edition My new booth setup for Art on the Green 2026! Stepping into the Spotlight Happy fall! We're now into my busy season and I've got tons to share! Art on the Green took place this past saturday after being rescheduled due to the nor'easter that came through on the original date. Despite that, I ended up really enjoying the show. Personally I think I would have liked a better booth location, i.e. right in the middle of things, but I still had great traffic to my booth with...

August 2026 Edition Finding the medium-hard difficulty Earlier this year I took some workout sessions with a personal trainer and something she said has stuck in my head and really changed my viewpoint on things. Whenever I was starting an exercise she would always remind me to check in on how I was feeling and ask myself how hard the exercise felt to me. The goal was to make sure I'm in a place where it's feels like it's medium-hard, not super hard where I burn out and cant complete the full...

July 2026 Edition POV My desk currently The Summer of Prepping We're halfway through the year and I feel like I've accomplished so much but there's still even more to get done. My summer will have a lot of prepping and creating since I have some exciting things happening in the fall. First thing is I will have a booth at Art on The Green on September 26! Its a bigger show than the first one I did this year and it takes place at a park I like to hang out and sketch in frequently so it feels...
