Meet The Artist

Welcome to the inaugural edition of my newsletter!

I created this newsletter because I wanted someplace to share my art/process/news and reach people that isn't at the mercy of social media algorithms.

For those of you just getting to know me, I'll give you my backstory! My name is Saron and I am an illustrator and designer. I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY (yerrrr), graduated college with a B.A. in graphic design and eventually wound up in Delaware working as a graphic designer full-time but still illustrating in my personal time.

My creative journey since graduating college has taken me through many phases, comic book art, typography, pop culture, and horror just to name a few. But at the heart of it all it was a journey of finding my way both as an artist and a grown human. That journey (13+ years now) brings us to the present day where I've found my focus and inspiration to be natural science art and science communications. Though looking back on my interests ever since I was a kid, I feel like this was bound to happen. Art & science and how they interact has been at the heart of my interests pretty much all of my life and now I've figured out an intersection where I can blend the two. Its been challenging but also really rewarding so far. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone to create art that I know going into it will be complicated but when I get out of my way and create it comes out even better than I envisioned. There's still so much more to learn and do but I'm really loving this stage of the journey so far.

As for announcements, my new online shop is now open! There's prints, stickers, and bookmarks shipped by me. There will also be shop updates in the future including some original artworks for sale.

Thank you so much for joining me in this first edition and on this creative journey. I hope you enjoy and see you next month!

P.S. I do check my inbox so feel free to let me know what you guys are up to as well! :)

May Highlights

A day trip to Higbee Beach in Cape May, NJ for shell hunting and beach combing inspired some quick sketches. I think my favorite was getting to see the horseshoe crabs up close.

I drew a few studies of the Spotted Ratfish (Hydrolagus colliei) using acrylic markers. I don't think I've fully got the hang of acrylic paint markers compared to traditional paint & brush but I still like playing around with them for quick studies like this.
Fun Fact: The egg capsule chimaeras and many smaller sharks & rays lay is commonly known as a "mermaid's purse"

Store Launch

My online store is now live! Prints, stickers, and bookmarks are in stock and shipped directly from me.

October 2026 Edition My new booth setup for Art on the Green 2026! Stepping into the Spotlight Happy fall! We're now into my busy season and I've got tons to share! Art on the Green took place this past saturday after being rescheduled due to the nor'easter that came through on the original date. Despite that, I ended up really enjoying the show. Personally I think I would have liked a better booth location, i.e. right in the middle of things, but I still had great traffic to my booth with...

September 2026 Edition End of Summer Musings I feel like August was simultaneously too short but also a really long month. I made really good progress with my projects despite work commitments and a family trip but I do wish there was more time so that I would be further along with some things. But I recognize life gets in the way sometimes and I have to give myself grace when that happens and just keep it moving. My biggest project update is that my coloring book is officially done! I got my...

August 2026 Edition Finding the medium-hard difficulty Earlier this year I took some workout sessions with a personal trainer and something she said has stuck in my head and really changed my viewpoint on things. Whenever I was starting an exercise she would always remind me to check in on how I was feeling and ask myself how hard the exercise felt to me. The goal was to make sure I'm in a place where it's feels like it's medium-hard, not super hard where I burn out and cant complete the full...
